A story of my school

My mother home schools us. She has very good reasons. She wants us to have a good education and to be able equipped to cope with the different things that happen in life.

Peer pressure makes kids do dumb things that they don't really even want to do. Peer pressure in school is really bad and there aren't enough adults around to keep an eye on all the bullying either. Mum says that we are able to have a really good relationship with each other. She says it is important that we can talk to her and dad about anything at all. Kids at school spend more time with other kids than their own families.

By homeschooling we can work at our own pace, we can learn the way that best suits us and we don't miss out on stuff that is being taught when we are off school sick. We can do subjects at home that are practical that we couldn't do at school. I have learnt to change the oil in the car and all kinds of useful stuff that dad does when he is home off shift.

If we were at school in a class of 30 kids we would have to work to an exact timetable. At our school our teacher sits beside us and gives us all the extra help we need. If we get stuck she gives us extra time or shows us another way to learn the same thing.

The discipline at our school is strict; we know what is acceptable behaviour and what is not. There's no being rude to the teacher and getting away with it here. We learn from the bible about God and about right from wrong, things they're not allowed or don't want to teach at school.

At home we don't have to think about what we want for lunch at breakfast time, we can make nice fresh sandwiches or hot soup or whatever we feel like at lunchtime.

I really like my school and my teacher (mum) my classmates (my brother & sister) and my headmaster (dad).
